v1.1 - post 7DRL bugfix/polish update


As is tradition, I've created a small bugfix/polish patch about 1 week after 7DRL.

Importantly, I've created another page that hosts the original 7DRL version which is sometimes useful for official 7DRL judges.

Note that while this new patch has a good amount of balancing/bug fixes, there's not really any new content. The overall goal of this release is clarity and nerfing some way-too-easy strategies.

NEW

  • Dancepad support: a dancepad can now be used in levels. Start/select also works to start the game or leave a menu. Let me know if it does or doesn't work for you!
  • All damage numbers shown
  • Showing total value for buffed stats (due to passives) and highlighting buffed stats on post-level screen
  • Monsters flash white when hit instead of tinted red (much clearer)
  • Monsters that are about to move/attack have a crouch animation for clarity
  • Countdown timer appears when only 30 seconds of a song remain
  • Added some detail to a few notes in Tutorial, greyed out read tables, and left a little Radish enemy with 1000 hp to play with
  • Added a discord button. Come join us!

BALANCE

  • Rebalanced upgrade costs. Stat upgrades are now exponentially more expensive the more you get. Preventing stat upgrades until hero itself is upgraded. The goal is to encourage more heroes rather than dumping all gold into one hero.
  • Lowered all cooldowns on basic melee heroes to 0. Higher cooldowns are confusing for new players.
  • Now sorting heroes initially by cooldown, so generally your slower/longer range heroes start in the back.
  • Lots of rebalancing on heroes and monsters.
  • Most monsters now have an additional wait turn.

BUGS

  • Fixed a bug where attack was always 1 unless upgraded
  • Fixed bug where the game over screen would sometimes reappear after going to the title screen
  • Fixed a bug where gold was never reset. WOOPS!
  • Fixed dead ends in breakable wall tunnels
  • Toned down "flashing" for gold pickups
  • Greatly mitigated performance issues present in Firefox (still probably plays best in Chrome)
  • Fixed some display issues with enemies dying.
